Most implants heal for about three to six months before the final crown goes on. If a tooth has to come out first, that adds healing time. Many patients wear a temporary tooth in the meantime so there is no gap.
The area is fully numbed, and most patients say it is easier than having the tooth pulled. Sedation is available if you would rather relax through it. Soreness afterward is usually handled with over-the-counter pain relievers.
